There’s often nothing better than looking a bit off broadway for a winner on a Saturday. Whether you’re down the pub or watching at home, while most of the common man will be punting at Rosehill or The Valley, Mitchbet isn’t afraid to head a bit out of town. We’ve been served up with 10 races of bog average benchmark racing in Melbourne, so our focus is home to the largest solar and battery farm in the country, Kerang.
Handy maiden alert.
There may not be any future group one winners here, but the first event has several winning chances. Double Turn is a recent trial winner at Bendigo under his own steam and drawn well. Rubikai and Stellar Eagle have race experience, while Positive Smile and Dee Are Ess can improve into their second career starts. One for the future is the Satono Aladdin gelding Suigetsu who’s been given heaps of time and has a staying pedigree. Could be a bit to learn here so perhaps cool your jets and sit out.
Race 2 Number 3 Perdition
The Mitch Freedman-trained gelding has run some good ratings this prep. Importantly he’s finally drawn a barrier to sit a few pairs closer. Strong winning hope.
Race 3 Number 6 Duchess Artie
Real speculative play. For a 5YO mare she’s still raw and has been caught flat footed over 1000m. I didn’t mind her work late at Echuca second up last prep. Resumes after a year break with jumpout win at this track. Place or 1×3 bet only. Currently $41/$8.
Race 4 Number 9 Mrs Bull
She has been unlucky not to have broken maiden this prep running over the Swan Hill carnival and against some progressive maiden winners. Tough barrier but has the motor and race fitness to overcome.
Race 5 Number 5 Appealing
I’m biased, I’ve followed and loved this Frankel mare for a long time. She finally broke through last start emphatically by 6.5L. Maiden to 0-58 in my eye probably a drop in grade. Will boot forward from the terrible gate, but will be hoping she can string a few wins together.
