Winter racing is well and truly here and Synthetic season for us sickos is one of my favourite pastimes. Pakenham played extremely fair on it’s first meeting back, evidenced by the support of trainers with big fields here on Monday. The locals seem to be worth an extra half a length or so on this surface and I’ve got a few heavily in my corner.

Race 1 Number 8 Think Hard

No messing around with this girl. 3YO filly jumping straight to the 1400m on resumption and looks the right trip based off her jumpouts and breeding. Drawn well on the home track, each way all day (While there’s still eight runners of course!)

Race 2 Number 2 Back For More

He’s a $170,000 Inglis Premier yearling who in fairness, has been out sped at the jumpouts. But like the previous runner, no dilly dallying they’re straight to 1400m for the debut and from a good draw is right in this. Incredibly shallow this race and while jumpout form isn’t everything, two of his opponents there Mercurial Lady and Burj Emperor go decent. $6 the win is a fair price, around $4 probably rock bottom.

Race 3 Number 10 Bermondsey

Locals are the order of the day it seems. And 2YO’s against the older horses this time of the year is a big tick. Stackhouse riding is the second big tick and have you caught the form out of this guy’s last start? Already a five length metro winner has come from the race. Think he’s found his right price at $2.50, but he can win this and head on to town with any luck.
