If you had no idea where the F#$% Stony Creek is, then join the club. Turns out it’s in the middle of nowhere, but there’s a racetrack so it must be a top notch place! I’m sure there’s other fun stuff to do there like scull VB, watch street fighting and play the banjo but on Tuesday all eyes will be focused on track.

My New Years resolution is to back more winners, so to that end I’ve performed some of the most scrupulous in-detail analysis to really find the cream of the crop. Welcome to Dare-y Does Ston(er) Creek!

Race 1

A source close to Terry Bailey overheard him say Rayza Warrior is a short priced favourite to replace Rebel Wilson in the not-so long awaited Bridesmaids movie sequel (source needed). Despite Ms Wilson’s improved fitness this campaign, the consistent performances from Rayza and long run of 2nds puts this 31 start maiden in prime position to steal the show in this star studded line up. Look out Melissa McCarthy and a few other actors nobody gives a shit about about. Rayza just wins this race, even if the great man TB thinks this horse is “afraid of the finish line”

Rayza Warrior to win.

The people’s horse Rayza Warrior (left) hitting the line with some authority under the urgings of Lachie King at Werribee.

Race 2

This Moody horse looks a step above the rest. Don’t be surprised if it’s shorter than a UK Prime Minister stint. It just wins.

Star Magic to win. Put in, take out job.

Race 3

Expecting a fair bit of speed from the outside draw with Lochend Umosa to push forward early. That may set up Miss Russia and Sports Choice to run on in the finish. You can’t support anything Russian related these days without backlash, especially with an unconfirmed report that Russian Miss was the alleged horse Vladmir Putin rode bare chested.

Sports Choice it is for me!

May or may not be the 3yo filly Miss Russia with a shirtless Vladimir Putin in the saddle in a Siberian field.

Race 4

The 4YO gelding Songo Songo missed the start and was too far back at Cranbourne and will be better for that. His trial on the 19th of December shows he has a bit of upside. More than winnable with Froggy on board. Good rider/trainer combo and the duo saluted at last week’s meeting. Tell your missus to throw her paycheck on the horse in the pretty pink silks. The best way to get out of the doghouse after your NYE drunken shenanigans is to back a winner!

Songo Songo to win.

Race 5

It all comes down to barrier draw here and with Sarnia wanting to push forward from barrier 8, I can see her getting stuck wide without cover as it did last start at Stoney. Asternishing finally draws something closer to the fence and looks set. On a side note, the Reece Goodwin stable need to start practicing their barrier draws. They’ve had more shit draws than the A league! Don’t be surprised if punters with flares storm the pitch if he keeps this up. Bloke knows how to draw the car park and then some.

Asternishing can win from the improved barrier draw.

Race 6

There is a bit of a mixed bag with horses in this race. Tea Master, ran a game second last start when the apprentice thought using the persuader would “slow the horse down” (Blake Shinn disagrees with this idea). The 4kg claimer Dakota Keane rides again. Scientific rates well, but is going to need some luck most likely being back and on the rail from the inside draw.

I’m going for a bit of value with Frankie Two Angels. Odds are way overs here in a very winnable race

Go wider than Clive Palmer in the second leg of the quaddie.

Frankie Two Angels each way

Race 7

Bazinga Bazinga lead from the start to about the 400m at Mooney Valley before running out of puff. If he can show that speed again he’ll be right in this.

Mir sounds a little too Russian for my liking. See race 3 comments…

Bazinga Bazinga to win

Race 8

If Rayza Warrior gets up in the first by 10 lengths as this tipster anticipates, then the form from Cable Dancer’s debut at Mornington definitely stacks up. There is no force more powerful in racing then knocking off Rayza Warrior, with many a runner going on to subsequent metro victories afterward.

The omen bet Cleitus I expect to shorten. If this horse is in the finish, don’t be surprised to see a few rough heads turning around thinking they’ve heard their name on the PA system. Cable Dancer it is for me and some juicy odds to find out.

Cable Dancer each way
